Wedding Photography Unveiled Giveaway!

The beautiful book Wedding Photography Unveiled is available now!  It has inspiration and insight from 20 photographers and I have the privilege of being included in the book!  My work has been published in a variety of magazines but being chosen as one of America's Top Wedding photographers by PDN and being included in this book is one of the biggest honors I have received.  The other photographers in this book are amazing and it is wonderful to be in their company!  Jose Villa's photo is on the cover and is amazing!

I am giving away two copies of the book to two photographers who write the most interesting entries about why they love photographing weddings.  I can't wait to see what you write....

I love photographing weddings because every one is unique but inherently the same.  I love my clients and being able to create photographs that will spark their memories of their wedding day for many years to come.

Elegant Montana Bride in Elegant Bride

I just received the latest issue of Elegant Bride and my most elegant Montana Bride of 2008 is featured in it!  Carrie wore a beautiful dress designed by Pronovias.  It was perfect for her!  After we did some getting ready photographs at one of the historic homes in Livingston, Montana I spotted an Airstream trailer in the alley.  The lady who owned it was gracious enough to let us use it as a prop and even brought out the red seat cushion.  I love this photo of Carrie and think it is so indicative of her in so many ways.  Carrie is a friend of mine and is always up for anything.  Her good spirits and humor are contagious, and she is very easy to photograph!

It is a lovely DIY wedding that is simple yet elegantly designed!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

I just picked up our new album for 2009 from Priscilla Foster's.  I had chosen the fabric this fall and this was the first one that she made for us.  It is this beautiful brocade fabric that is set off with this perfect green silk that has just a itty bit of sparkles in it.

Chieko will put our first one together this week.  I can't wait to see it!

Happy St. Pat's Day!

Priscilla Foster Digital Albums: Bozeman, Montana

As some of you know we have been using Priscilla's self mount albums for years. We love working with her and the unusual beaty of her work. We strive to do our best to bring our clinets the best possible products at an affordable price. A few years ago i suggested to Priscilla that she make a digital version of her wedding albums. Last year she made her first and this year she brought them out at WPPI. She also asked me to photograph her books for her web site that was more emotional and indicative of the style of her work. I asked Chieko to do the photographs and help her out just a bit. (I love photographing people but go a bit crazy when pphotographing products.) I think Chieko did a wonderful job. Priscilla just added the photos to her site and it looks GREAT. If you haven't seen her work check it out here. Starting this week sometime we will be offering a variety of albums, including her self mount and digital option.

Over the years I have looked at EVERY bookmaker that markets wedding albums and I have to say we are so fortunate to have Priscilla here in Montana creating these beautiful works of art to display our wedding photographs.

Here is her web address, CHECK IT OUT!

Portal Films: Andy Jackson

For the past several weeks we have been discussing the idea of Guest Bloggers. I am glad to have our first guest be Andy Jackson from Portal Films. He worked on a beautiful wedding that Cindy and Holly photographed at the Ritz in Naples, Florida. The film he created was one of the most vivid and emotional movies that I have seen. On top of it all he is charming and easy to be around which makes life so much more pleasant. Thank you Andy for taking the time to write on our blog!

"Fact creates norms, and truth illumination." -Werner Herzog, director
Within my work, I strive for truth. I do not focus on a wedding as an "event", but rather on the wedding as a set of relationships. I focus on the little interactions that define love... the reasons why the wedding is taking place.
My name is Andy Jackson, impressionistic cinematographer.

When I was a senior in high school, I remember the prom being a highly anticipated event. Everyone spoke so highly of it that I couldn’t keep myself from being excited. I imagined a classy affair where I would mingle with friends, sharing lots of laughter and stories. When the big day finally came, I arrived with my date only to find myself in the midst of a massive photo session. I was immensely disappointed.
For many brides, this is unfortunately the case with their wedding. For years they dream about the beauty, elegance, and intimate nature of this day, only to find themselves in an emotionally stifling environment as a consequence of careless or inexperienced vendors.
In November of last year, I was privileged to work with Cindy & Holly of Nashan Photographers at the wedding of Jenny Flavin & Joel Gonzalez at the Ritz Carlton in Naples, FL. While Cindy & Holly were able to capture some terrific portraits, a majority of their work consisted of capturing moments and emotions as they unfolded. They allowed the day to naturally take its course, which was not only appreciated by me, but by the bride, the groom, and both of their families. Everyone was able to completely enjoy the celebration and soak in each other’s good company without distraction.
When considering a vendor, always look for those that will keep the best interest of your wedding in mind.
