ideas....posed shots.

I am photographing Mike Martin's wedding in September and encourage my clients to give me any photos that they have seen on the web or in magazines that they like. Some of my clients send me photocopies, or emails with links to images they enjoy. Mike is a graphic designer and he made me a book. It is tiny, the size of a busniess card, but has about 20 pages of images that he found on the web, copied, and printed in a book format. He used a rubber band to 'bind' the book. I love it and some of the ideas in it.

Food for thought....

A little over a year ago I photographed Hilary and Ryan Lafoley's wedding. They were wonderful to work with and very easy to photograph. Since then they have been kind enough to recommend me to several of their friends and relatives. As a thank you, I offered to take some photographs of the two of them. Instead of portraits they asked me to photograph some of Ryan's food for his business. Ryan is a chef and started his company last year as a private chef and caterer.

They invited me up to their home for some wine and food so I could enjoy myself while photographing some of his food. Shooting food is MUCH different than shooting weddings. It was interesting to force myself to do something that was outside of my confort zone. I often photograph food at events and weddings but it something different when you are just photographing food. As they can attest, I basically moved everything around in their living area to find interesting compositions and light to shoot the beautiful food he was creating.

Here are a couple of collages that I created that I think really reflects the way Ryan prepares and serves his food. I was so wrapped up in shooting that I didn't get to try all of the food he prepared, but I did enjoy a couple of the little "ice cream cones" that were simple delicious.

If you are hosting a small dinner or a slightly larger party I would definitely call Ryan and have him prepare something for you.

Engagement Portrait

Brock and Mary Cloud are gettting married this summer in Bozeman at a lovely park called Beall Park in the center of town. I went to their house to do their engagement portraits and remembered that the park has a huge ice skating rink in the winter. So they were willing to get their skates on and play. I love some of the photos that capture their playfullness while doing something they both enjoy doing.

PORTRAITS OF A DOG

When I first saw these images that Barbel took I was so excited! I think she made some of the best doggie portraits I had seen in awhile. You can see the rest by going to:

She also got some great shots of Rocky, the dog, with Dave his owner.

Barbel and I have a FRIENDLY competition going on all that we do. I did a portrait session the other day and came up with this image.

I love taking portraits because you never really know what is going to happen. I was taking photos of Sadie and Shamus in the tree and stepped back and the dog followed me. I like this image more than I do the images of the people.

Thank You Cards

Here is one of the Thank You cards we have done for one of our wedding clients. We offer a 30% discount to our wedding clients if they order their thank you cards through us. They are a 3x5" folded press printed card which means they look just like a photograph!

I love being able to offer something that is so pretty and affordable to our clients!
